6 Beautiful St. Louis Photo Locations for Your Next Session
If you’re planning your engagement photos, family session, or just want to capture a special season of life, finding the perfect location is such an important part of the process. Luckily, St. Louis is full of beautiful parks and scenic spots that fit every type of session.
Below are six of my favorite St. Louis photo locations that I love returning to again and again. Each one has its own charm, lighting, and personality and I’ve included a few photos from real sessions so you can get a feel for each space!
1. Lafayette Park
Tucked away in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood, this park is straight out of a storybook. The charming iron fences, winding paths, and elegant Victorian homes that surround the park add a timeless touch to any session.
Whether we’re walking by the pond, stopping at the iconic bridge, or using the colorful blooms in spring as your backdrop — Lafayette Park gives that romantic, classic city feel without the downtown crowds.
Best for: engagement sessions, anniversary shoots, and anyone who loves old St. Louis charm.
2. Route 66 State Park
If you’re drawn to wide open spaces and golden light, Route 66 State Park is a dream. The trails and river access make it perfect for more relaxed, nature-forward photos.
The park has a mix of fields, wooded areas, and views of the Meramec River — perfect for couples who want that laid-back, outdoorsy vibe. Around sunset, the light hits the open fields beautifully.
Best for: golden-hour engagement sessions, lifestyle couples, or adventurous families.
3. Fabick Nature Preserve
Fabick Nature Preserve is one of those hidden gems that feels like an escape from the city. The mix of tall grasses, evergreens, and winding dirt trails gives every session a soft, organic look.
I love this spot for its peaceful atmosphere — it’s rarely crowded, which means you can relax and just enjoy being in the moment.
Best for: cozy couples’ sessions, maternity photos, and anyone wanting a natural, serene backdrop.
4. Thornhill Estate at Faust Park
If you love history and elegant scenery, Thornhill Estate is such a beautiful spot. Located inside Faust Park, it offers historic buildings, white fences, gardens, and wide lawns that photograph so well in every season.
We can explore the rustic barns, the old estate house, or nearby trails for a mix of textures and tones in your gallery.
Best for: romantic engagement sessions, senior portraits, and timeless family photos.
5. Tower Grove Park
Tower Grove Park is one of St. Louis’s most iconic photo locations and for good reason. It has tree-lined walkways, colorful pavilions, fountains, and open green spaces that make it easy to create a variety of looks in one session.
In spring and fall especially, the colors here are incredible. From the vibrant blooms to golden leaves, it’s a perfect place to capture that St. Louis charm.
Best for: engagements, family sessions, or any portraits that feel both classic and lively.
6. St.Louis Botanical Garden
If you're looking for a picture-perfect spot in St. Louis that blends lush greenery, timeless architecture, and tranquil paths. The Missouri Botanical Garden is an absolute dream. From elegant conservatories and blooming gardens to shaded walkways and seasonal displays, it offers something beautiful in every season, making it a go-to location for portraits, engagement sessions, or simply a peaceful stroll.
Admission: $16 for adults (age 13+) — children 12 and under are free.
(For St. Louis City or County residents, there’s a discounted rate and occasional free-entry hours.)
Whether you’re after vibrant spring flowers, leafy summer backdrops, or soft winter light. The Garden’s ever-changing beauty makes it a top choice for any shoot or visit.
